The answer first
Therapy is the second vertical in this series where the incumbents publish their prices, and both deserve credit for it. From their own pages today, TherapySites runs $69 to $336 a month plus a $199 one-time design fee, and Brighter Vision starts at $99 a month with a $100 setup fee. A comparable site from TechTailors at the Professional plan, about 5 billable pages for a typical practice, is $250 a month: $4,500 in year one on monthly billing, or $3,250 with annual prepay, from a published rate card. That is more than the platforms, and this post is direct about when the platforms are the better call. The difference you are paying for is the same one as every post in this series: at month 13 you hold every account and a published path to the code, or you hold a subscription.
What the incumbents charge
| Provider | Monthly | Setup | Notes | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TherapySites (Internet Brands) | $69 Core, $99 Advantage, $158 Premium, $207 Premium Plus, $266 Elite, $336 Elite Plus | $199 one-time design fee | Unlimited pages; secure email and forms from $15/mo, reputation from $40/mo, Google Ads from $600/mo, all add-ons | Primary: their pricing page, captured 2026-08-28 |
| Brighter Vision | From $99/mo (Start); higher tiers reported at $125 to $349 (third-party figures) | $100 (waived in the current monthly promo) | Flourish tier bundles Hushmail HIPAA forms and email; otherwise HIPAA email from $14.99/mo; annual cancellation has a $100 fee | Primary: their pricing page for the $99 start and setup fee, captured 2026-08-28; tier figures per Choosing Therapy’s review |
| Psychology Today profile | $29.95/mo directory listing | None | Not a website; listed because for some practices it is the honest alternative to one | Their published member rate, stated for context |
| Custom designers | Four-figure projects plus hosting | Project | The bespoke lane for group practices building a brand | No single source; varies by designer |
Worth naming across this series: the two therapy platforms publish their prices while the legal and medical incumbents mostly do not. Small practices get clearer treatment here than law firms do. Read the add-on columns anyway; a $69 site with secure forms, reputation, and SEO attached lands well north of the sticker.
Reviewers are blunter about the product than we would be. Reframe Practice’s guide writes that TherapySites templates look years out of date and that sites end up nearly identical to other practices in your area, and TME Brand Marketing’s review of both platforms describes highly templated results and slow support. At $69 that may be a trade worth making; just know you are making it.
What TechTailors charges for the same job
A typical practice site runs about 5 pages: home, about and approach, specialties sharing one layout, rates and FAQ, contact. Under page-type pricing that is 5 billable pages at the Professional plan’s $50/page/month, which is exactly the plan’s $250 monthly floor: the smallest Professional engagement we sell.
| Monthly billing | Annual prepay (10-for-12) | |
|---|---|---|
| Build fee (published rate card: 5 pages × $150, Blueprint $250 credited) | $750 | $375 (half waived) |
| Security-baseline setup (small band, one-time) | $750 | $375 (half waived) |
| Subscription ($250/mo) | $3,000 | $2,500 |
| Year-one total | $4,500 | $3,250 |
Plus the Cloudflare Business plan the baseline runs on: about $250 a month, roughly $200 on annual billing, billed by Cloudflare to your own account and listed here on purpose.
Why Professional for a therapy practice? Because the sensitive part of your work should never reach your marketing site in the first place, and the plan is that boundary as configuration: contact forms that collect name, contact, and appointment request only, with no symptom checkboxes and no “tell us what brings you in” free-text feeding a generic form store; anything clinical routed to your EHR portal or a BAA-covered form tool under your own account; no third-party pixels on booking or intake pages; a per-page script inventory you can show an auditor; breach readiness with the 60-day notification clock in the runbook; and an annual review that ends in a one-page attestation letter. We will not sell you a “HIPAA-compliant website” badge. We will sell you the documented boundary that makes the question moot for the marketing surface. Compute your own numbers in the calculator.
What the premium buys
At $250 a month we are the premium option in this table, and we would rather own that than obscure it: TechTailors is a premium anti-agency. The premium buys a site that is hand-coded for your practice alone, with a design nobody else in your city is running, which matters in a profession where the site’s whole job is to feel like you before the first phone call. Performance is guaranteed in writing (any page scoring 95 or below in any Lighthouse category on our monthly test is free that month), the security work is graded A+ by three independent scanners you can re-run yourself, and our one public client is a healthcare practice with live scores.
It is fully managed, which for a solo practice means the site stops being a chore: we handle design, development, hosting, security, and maintenance, with unlimited content edits for the life of the subscription (fee changes, new specialties, a new headshot, done), security patches that land without a ticket, and automatic technology upgrades at no extra cost. Every month we run a Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals health audit and email you the scores with a plain-language summary of what we worked on. The SLAs are published, we track our own misses and apply most credits without a claim, and hosted add-ons carry a 99.9% uptime SLA with automatic credits. And the catalog grows with the practice: blogging on an enterprise-grade CMS, e-commerce, digital advertising, CRO and A/B testing, analytics, site search, multi-language, and custom integrations, all on one published rate card, month-to-month after the first year, so going from solo to group never means shopping for a second vendor.
It also buys a real search position. Every build includes on-page SEO, a managed Google Business Profile, NAP citations, LocalBusiness schema, sitemaps, and GEO/AEO work for AI-driven search, included rather than tiered, and TechTailors is founder-led by someone who came up through SEO. “Therapist near me” is a local fight a template shared with the practice down the street cannot win. When you outgrow referrals, SEO add-ons scale up; the foundation is in the $250.
And it buys a person. The one who built your site answers your messages on a published clock (24 business hours on Professional), and clients text us directly. Custom integrations run $250 one-time each, wiring your scheduler or directory profiles in once instead of renting connector tools monthly. Annual prepay is two months free and halves the build and setup fees, and the referral program pays up to $10,000.
The commitment is honest in both directions. The Blueprint is a fixed quote and its deliverable is yours to keep even if you never sign; the build bills by milestone, never prepaid; and the 30-day satisfaction guarantee is a written exit from the remaining 11 months if the fit is wrong after Go Live. The exit fee is zero, offboarding is documented before you sign, and the code buy-out is open from day one: you can have us build the site and buy it outright at Go Live for the at-signing cap, $7,500 on a $250/month site, or stay managed and let it fall to $4,500 after four anniversaries. The annual review states, in writing, when you should be paying us less, including when the honest answer is a downgrade. And an eligible small practice may qualify for the federal ADA Section 44 credit of up to $5,000 a year for the accessibility work in every build (IRS Form 8826); the calculator estimates it, and your accountant confirms it.
Month 13: what you hold
A note before the table: month 13 is just the first renewal, the moment the difference shows. Ownership of every account starts at day one, and the buy-out is available from Go Live onward.
| At month 13 | TechTailors | Typical therapy-web platform |
|---|---|---|
| Domain and DNS | Your registrar, your Cloudflare zone | Registration often included and vendor-managed; transfer-out policies vary |
| Hosting account | Yours; we are a removable collaborator | The platform |
| Analytics history | Your accounts, exportable free | Platform dashboards |
| Content | Yours, exportable | Pre-written libraries are licensed; your own writing varies |
| The site code | Buy-out any time; the price drops at every anniversary you stay | Platform-resident; no ownership path |
| Cost to leave | Zero exit fee, documented offboarding | Rebuild; monthly terms at least make leaving quick |
When each option is the right call
TherapySites at $69 is the honest budget answer, and we mean that without a wink: a solo practice whose leads come from Psychology Today and referrals is probably right to pay $69 there, keep the profile at $29.95, and spend the difference on the practice. Brighter Vision fits therapists who want a more designed site with the Hushmail HIPAA pieces bundled at the Flourish tier, and its published pricing and month-to-month terms are fair dealing. Custom designers make sense for group practices where brand is the growth strategy. TechTailors is the right call when the practice is becoming a business: multiple clinicians, insurance and out-of-network mix, a site that has to rank and convert, a design that reads as you rather than as a platform, a client-data boundary you can show in writing, and infrastructure you own at month 13 instead of rent at month 130.
Verify us, not our copy
Our one public client site is a healthcare practice: goldmanchiropracticcenter.com is live, built to the same form-minimization and no-pixels rules described above, and its PageSpeed results are one click away, the same monthly test behind our Lighthouse guarantee. Our own security posture is graded by three independent scanners at /security. Check us out before a single conversation: run your current site through the website health checker, price your practice in the calculator, or order the free Agency Audit. The full series runs the same math for law firms, CPAs, advisors, and medical practices.
