Foundational anchors

These two studies do most of the heavy lifting on the broad-catalog comparisons we make. Both pull from huge third-party datasets (Clutch indexes 106,043 verified agencies; Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers), and both publish their methodology so the numbers stay auditable.

  1. Marketplace pricing data from 106,043 verified digital marketing agencies — the largest dataset of its kind anywhere on the web. Project costs typically run $10,000–$49,999 and retainers $5,000–$50,000/mo. Major-metro agencies charge 35–60% more than regional providers. Hourly rates: SEO/PPC/content $100–$149/hr typical; $25–$49/hr most common Clutch agency band.

Compiled from verified ratings + testimonials from 106,043 firms.

  2. Survey of 439 SEO providers found average agency monthly retainer is $3,209/mo, average freelancer $1,348/mo, average consultancy $3,250/mo. Most common SMB band: $501–$1,000/mo. 63% of businesses spend $500–$5,000/mo on SEO. Median U.S. monthly cost: $1,501–$2,000.

Both anchors confirm TechTailors' broad-catalog positioning: $300–$12,500/mo across 14 add-ons sits within the published competitive band at every tier — and our zero-markup vendor-ownership architecture is structurally lower than the bundled-tool retainers these studies measure.

  1. Marketplace data from 79,260 verified web design firms shows hourly rates of $100–$149 and project costs spanning under $10,000 (general) to $200,000+ (top-tier). Mid-range projects cluster at $10,000–$49,999 before any monthly retainer.

TechTailors web design starts at $25/page/month with $0 upfront. A 10-page Launch site is roughly $3,000 in year one, with hosting and lifetime support included. WebFX's leanest tier (Basic at $6,500–$15,000 upfront plus $501–$5,000/month management) lands at $12,500–$75,000 in year one alone, and Clutch's mid-range web design band sits at $10,000–$49,999 before any monthly retainer enters the picture. We can quote $25/page/month because the model is different: no project fee, pay only for the months you use us, codebase ships to you on day one.

TechTailors SEO On-Page is $2,500 per page (SMB) or $5,000 per page (Enterprise), with every 5th page free pulling the effective rate to roughly $2,000 SMB / $4,000 Enterprise. The data above measures one layer at a time: $50–$150 per page for basic meta-tag optimization (Wowbix), $0.06–$0.16 per word for marketplace content writing (Verblio), $150–$600 per page for landing page creation through a local SEO shop (Arc4). Top-tier independent SEO consultants quote $3,000–$5,000 per page for the full stack, with no deadline guarantee. We bundle keyword research, metadata, schema, content writing, and interactive enhancements into one per-page price — backed by a 21-day completion SLA.

Paid advertising benchmarks

Citations supporting our Digital Advertising service (flat 20% of spend or $500/mo floor, whichever is greater).

  1. PPC management fees typically 10–20% of ad spend; most SMB agencies sit at 15–20%. Flat-fee management retainers $500–$2,000/mo. Larger accounts typically command higher fees due to increased complexity and management effort.

Our Analytics service is a 25% fee on top of your integrated tool spend, billed monthly, with no agency markup and every tool account staying in your name. The alternatives get expensive fast: Google's GA360 enterprise tier alone runs $50,000–$150,000/year before any agency hour. A typical analytics consultant charges $5,000–$20,000/month for setup and dashboards (Stackmatix). Hiring in-house starts at an $82,896 average base salary (Glassdoor, 612 submissions) and lands closer to $103,000–$116,000/year once you load in benefits. Every TechTailors site already includes GA4 via Cloudflare Zaraz and Cloudflare Web Analytics for free at every tier. Methodology — how we use these citations

Each service page on the site cites a curated subset of these studies in its Industry Benchmarks section. We follow four conventions across every citation:

  1. Year-cited. Every claim names the year of the study ("2026 ClicksGeek CRO Pricing Guide", not "ClicksGeek's CRO guide") so each citation is auditable.
  2. Specific finding pulled into our copy. We quote the exact number we're citing rather than relying on the source page's live state — if the source page later changes its number, our citation is still anchored to the dated study identified here.
  3. Multi-source triangulation. Where possible we pair a Tier 1 anchor (Ahrefs, Clutch, AgencyAnalytics, VWO, Netalico) with a vertical-specific or triangulating reference for compounded authority.
  4. Vendor-ownership differentiator. Every benchmark we cite has tool licenses bundled into the agency's fee. TechTailors' labor-only pricing is structurally lower than the bundled equivalent per our vendor-account-ownership architecture — every page that cites a study explicitly calls this out.

Sources we deliberately don't cite

Some industry sources are referenced in third-party syntheses but either paywalled, smaller-N, or no longer directly verifiable. We don't cite these on public pages without re-verifying first:

  • Forrester / G2 / Gartner enterprise pricing reports — typically paywalled. Don't cite without owning a copy.
  • HubSpot's 2025 Agency Growth Report — referenced in third-party syntheses; original URL has shifted. Re-verify before citing.
  • Search Engine Journal — State of the SEO Agency Report — source itself is paywalled / sign-up required. We cite Digital Elevator's summary instead.
  • Convertica, CRO Metrics, Conversion Sciences pricing — mentioned in CRO agency overviews but no published rate cards. We don't cite specific dollars without a primary source.
